Just this week breakthrough new research from the NT shows that 44,000ha of likely threatened species habitat has been bulldozed and burned across the Territory's savannas. On average,12 different federally-listed threatened species are affected each time, but no pastoral land clearing in the NT has ever referred for assessment under NT or federal nature laws.  

Speaking up for nature has never been more important. Right now, our national environment law, the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act (EPBC Act), is undergoing once-in-a-generation reform. We urgently need to overhaul our EPBC Act to stop deforestation, protect critical habitat for threatened species and comprehensively address the climate impacts of major projects.
