We wouldn’t exist without our incredible volunteers at Environment Centre NT.
If you’re looking to do something rewarding, fun and meaningful, join our great team of volunteers.
There are plenty of opportunities to help out including:
Climate Action Darwin:
Climate Action Darwin is a growing community group of NT residents who acknowledge the climate emergency and are taking action. We meet monthly to plan and conduct events, education, promotion and advocacy.

Elected Members Engagement Group:
Joining EMEGs is a chance to engage with decision-makers and express your opinions about the state of environmental management in the NT.
The reason we are an elected members engagement group (EMEGS) is that the group will look to engage with all levels of politics including: aldermen, members of the legislative assembly, federal Senators and members of parliament. Engagement will include drafting submissions, making phone calls, writing letters, door-knocking, letter box drops and meeting with politicians.
EMEGS will be an access point for you to influence decision makers in an organised and strategic manner. EMEGS runs alongside Arid Lands Environment Centre (ALEC)’s submission writing workshop.
Each month’s focus will be directed by Environment Centre’s campaign objectives and relevant law and policy. Our campaigns at the moment are: McArthur River Mine, It's time to #Fix our Mining Laws, The Territory's Nature, It's Worth Protecting, Stop Barossa Gas and Love Darwin Harbour.
The meetings alternate between submission writing sessions and MLA engagement sessions.
With MLA engagement sessions we are moving to a model where some members will work with the MLA engagement co-ordinator to organise meetings with different MLAs and other members will organise door-knocking and letter boxing in the MLAs' electorates.
Campaign Specific Action
The group meet once a month to draft submissions, write letters, telephone MLA's and MP's and plan meetings with local members.
There are opportunities for training and networking with national organisations.
If you are interested in becoming a part of the Elected Members Engagement Group, let us know when you sign up to volunteer.
