Chip in to defend the Territory's nature.

For over 40 years, Environment Centre NT has been a brave voice defending some of the most spectacular natural places on the planet.

In May, with thanks to our community, we saved 20,000 native corellas and galahs from being poisoned at Newcastle Waters Station in the Northern Territory.  

This proves that when we stand together for the extraordinary wildlife and nature of the NT, we win. 

But this is one victory within a much larger fight. Across the Territory, nature is under pressure from all sides. 

Our goal is to raise $100,000 by 30 June to fuel our critical work to: safeguard the Territory’s remarkable free-flowing rivers and ancient aquifers, our vast great north savannas and Darwin Harbour, a natural jewel teeming with a staggering array of marine life.  

In 2026/27 we will double down on campaigns to: 

  • Save the ancient lifegiving Cambrian Limestone aquifer, that discharges into the Mataranka and Bitter springs which feed the iconic Roper River, from the threat of fracking. 
  • Protect our much loved and thriving Darwin Harbour from the Middle Arm gas and petrochemical industrial hub.  
  • Safeguard our great northern tropical savannas – the largest intact woodlands on the planet – from bulldozing for cotton and industrial agriculture.  

Underpinning all this work is a clear story for the Territory’s future: moving beyond the old ‘northern development’ agenda of extraction and destruction, and building regenerative economies grounded in justice, community wellbeing and ecological care.
