Community organising training workshop

We’ve held off fracking in the Territory for over a decade, but the industry is ramping up the pressure. In the midst of huge public outrage over how little tax gas companies pay, the Albanese government is talking about giving more taxpayer money to the gas industry, to fast-track fracking in the Beetaloo BasinHere in the NT, the Government wants to send in the Territory Coordinator to fast track fracking projects. With gas giants Santos and Inpex moving in to the Beetaloo basin, the risk of fracking has never been greater.

The next six months will be critical. in order to protect our climate and water from fracking, our movement has to get stronger and bigger, right now.

The No New Gas Coalition, Frack Free NT, and ECNT are hosting a day-long workshop to support activists in Darwin with Madeleine Holme, a long-time movement educator on workplace and community organising. The focus will be on building practical skills - practicing how to have the most effective conversations on a doorstep, on a market stall, or on your lunch break at work.

We have plans to put these skills to good use in coming months - we'll be doorknocking, speaking to people at markets and community events like ECNT's Gaslit festival.

We’ll have good food, good snacks and comfy couches in the delightful ECNT Nightcliff community space. Please only register if you can commit to coming for the full day.
