Protect our nature from Big Cotton

URGENT CALL FOR FEDERAL ACTION ON NT NATURE

The Albanese and Cook Labor Governments just cut the ribbon on a new Kimberley cotton factory, and they’re talking about building a billion-dollar cotton industry in the north.

Sounds pretty great, right? The only problem is – Cotton. Kills. Rivers.

Cotton is a thirsty crop that sucks up huge amounts of water, wrecks delicate ecosystems and destroys habitats that countless species rely on.

Remember the Murray Darling disaster? Now, Big Cotton wants to copy-paste the same terrible model into the Territory. We’re talking massive private dams drying up our rivers, rampant bulldozing, important floodplains turned into industrial farmland and the destruction of some of our precious nature for the profits of a small handful of giant corporations.

And the worst part? The government is backing them with taxpayer-funded subsidies. Hundreds of millions of dollars.

It’s not too late to stop Big Cotton's Territory Takeover. Join our calls to Federal Environment Minister Murray Watt. Sign and send our email (below).
