FORTUNE AGRIBUSINESS FUNDS MANAGEMENT PTY LTD – SINGLETON STATION NT
26.10.2020
Singleton Station (
within the Western Davenport water control district)
with company
Fortune Agribusiness, recently applied for an annual 40,000 megalitre water licence from the NT Government for irrigated fruit and vegetable crops.
ECNT made a submission calling for the refusal of the water licence on the basis that the Licence would breach the Water Act because it is inconsistent with the Western Davenport Water Allocation
Plan. We also stated a water licence of this size would have a significant impact
on the environment, thus meeting the threshold for referral under the Environment Protection Act 2019 (NT) and requesting the Water Controller immediately refer the application to the NTEPA.
Have a read of our submission here to understand our concerns.
