For this year’s Sustainable House Day, COOLmob are hosting an event tailored specifically for renters—showcasing practical, low-cost solutions to improve comfort and energy efficiency in rental homes.

Instead of opening homes, we will be using our Community Hub to give demonstrations on ways to make rental apartments 'cool' and help renters save on their energy bills. 

Our event will feature:

• Panel Discussion: Energy Hardship & Advocacy – Led by Better Renting, this panel will explore the impact of high energy costs on renters, the need for policy changes to improve rental housing efficiency, and how tenants can advocate for better rights and support. Featuring voices from social service organisations, the discussion will highlight real challenges and practical strategies for change.
• Window Tinting Demonstration – A hands-on look at different types of window films, how to apply them, and the best locations for installation.
• Indoor & Balcony Plants for Shade – Exploring how renters can use greenery to create natural cooling and improve indoor air quality. 
• Sustainable Furnishings & Fabrics – Showcasing renter-friendly ways to reduce heat, improve insulation, and choose sustainable materials.
• Energy Efficiency Conversations – A local property manager will discuss energy-saving strategies and how renters can advocate for efficiency upgrades.

This event will provide renters with actionable steps to enhance thermal comfort, reduce energy bills, and create more sustainable living spaces—all without major modifications or landlord approval.
