Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) is being touted as a critical component of Australia's net zero plan. CCS projects have received billions of dollars of public funding, and there has been a flurry of recent decisions announcing yet more money for more CCS projects. The NT Government have partnered with gas companies to investigate the possibility of a CCS project in Darwin Harbour, and Santos are planning to turn the Bayu-Undan gas field in East Timor's waters into a CCS hub.
But does CCS actually work? Is it an important part of reducing our emissions, or merely a smokescreen for new oil and gas projects?
We are bringing together a panel of experts to bust some of the myths around CCS. Join us for a Zoom webinar to learn more about the role CCS is playing in the current climate and energy context, and the threats it poses to genuine emissions reduction efforts.
