Ghost bats. Gouldian finches. Pig-nosed turtles. Red goshawks. Claravale Station in the Northern Territory is one of the last strongholds for some of Australia's most iconic wildlife.
Now the Albanese Government has approved deforestation across nearly 3,000 hectares of it - an area 10 times the size of Sydney's CBD - without assessment under our federal nature laws.
This is a test for whether Australia's environment laws mean anything at all.
Join us online to hear from Dr Bob Brown in discussion with ECNT Director, Dr Kirsty Howey, about the deforestation planned for Claravale and how this could occur under our federal nature laws.
We then pose a key question to threatened species experts - Dr Richard Seaton (Birdlife Australia) and Dr Nicola Hanrahan (Charles Darwin University) - what does this decision mean for some of Claravale's most imperilled wildlife?
Join us for this compelling conversation and learn more about our work to protect this precious place.
